Color on the Couch

With this picture i am focusing on the color yellow, which is associated with happiness. I took some yellow flowers my sister got from her boyfriend, and had mikayla wear a yellow shirt holding the flowers and smiling. I think this picture gets the meaning past a lot because when you recieve flowers your happy, and with how bright it is it looks like summer, and her smiling just you can tell she is happy. I used color balance on this picture and it dulled out the colors but i like how it did it, because before it was really bright. This is my favorite picture that i took for this project, i just really like how it turned out.
This picture i am focusing on the color light blue. The meaning/ association i found for light blue was heaven. So on saturday when the sky was really clear and blue, i had mikayla stand in my backyard looking up, like she is looking into heaven. I like how this picture turned out because there is really no other colors other than light blue, and in the top left corner of the picture it becomes really light from the sun, but it could represent the light from heaven. The only problem i can see with this picture is that you can't really see where she is looking directly and the only reason i didn't fix it was because the sun was too bright for the picture and the sky was like white. But i still really like this picture because you can see she is looking up into the sky. I used color balance on this picture and it make the green a little brighter but also helped the blue out a lot.

This picture i am using the color black to represent. On the website i was looking at black's meaning can be associated with death. So Mikalya and I went to the cemetary and found a black tombstone, which kind of looks gray because of the sun. I took many different angles of the picture but i really like how this one turned out. You see the back of her but yet when looking into the tombstone you see the reflection of her praying. Also, i really like how she kind of leads you to the tombstone, i didn't use color balance on this picture because it made the picture to green and bright. I had mikayla wear a black dress to also represent the color even more, i really like how this picture turned out.

This picture i am representing the color dark green. After looking at some meanings of the color i came to a website that said dark green is sometimes associated with money and greed. At first i was gonna have a someone holding money with money surrounding them but i didn't like how the picture turned out. So, then i tried this was and really liked it, because the dollars in the front are like leading you to the rest of the money spread out on the body pillow. I used my digital macro setting which i really liked because it blurred the money in the background but really got the details of the money in the front. This is not my favorite picture but i liked how the finish project looks.

This picture is my picture for the yellow wallpaper illustration. I had my friend Mikayla stand by my bedroom window at night, because the girl in the story watched the moon at night through the window. I also had her wear a dull yellow color because of the dull yellow wallpaper that drove the lady crazy in the story. Mikayla had just got done with a soccer game so she still had the yellow prewrap in her hair which i liked because it even brought more yellow into the picture. I then had her hold a notebook, like she was writting the story, which the story was the journal the lady was writting in. I used the color balance tool which i really liked how the colors became more dull which went good with the meaning of the picture, because in the story she described the colors to be real dull. I also really like how her reflection is in the window, it could represent the ghost the lady thought she was seeing.

Andy Goldsworthy

With this picture again I didn't have to use the color balance tool, because all the colors are similar and they have there natural color towards them. I had to crop this photo, so I wasn't breaking the rule of thirds, but I would say this is not my best photo. I think this because it is really hard to tell what the focal point is which is the stick that makes the circle, but it blends in with the background, so it's hard to see. I didn't make this sculpture I just found it in my woods and I thought it was really cool how the stick wrapped itself around the tree.
This is the second picture I took; I found a dirt pile in the back of my yard, and I live right in front of woods. So I found some twigs on the ground, and took some leaves off one of the trees. I then placed them on this pile of dirt trying to imitate a tree branch. I like how this picture turned out because of the colors they are really natural and I think its really cool, because I didn't even use color balance on this photo.

This is the first photo I took for our Andy Goldsworthy assignment. I created a flower using materials i found around my yard and then just a patch of dirt that we are trying to grow grass which is what the seeds are for in the background. At first i wanted to use a patch of grass in my yard, but then the green leaves and stem blended in and the flowers were not sitting right on the ground, so i had to move to a flatter surface. To create this image, I used the rocks underneath my porch to make it look like the flower was in a rock garden. Than I picked to leaves off a tree in my yard, and a dandelion from my yard, also I took a flower that always grows by my house and pulled the petals off of it, and then i found a dead flower and twisted the stem off. I put them all together to make a flower and then spread the rocks out so it looked like it grew out from the rocks. After, I took the picture I had to crop it, so I didn't break the rule of thirds and also there was just extra dirt that wasn't needed. After cropping it, I used the color balance tool, which i really liked the turn out because it make the red flower petals much brighter, and dulled down the dirt background, also didn't make the rocks look so bright because of my flash. I really like how the finish product of this photo turned out.

About Andy Goldsworthy:
Andy Goldsworthy is a 52 year old British sculptor, photographer, and an environmentalist. Goldsworthy studied art at both Bradford Art College and Lancaster Art College. He uses any materials he can get his hands on outside, to make his sculptures. He takes the photographs of his work to document and capture the beauty of his work. He does his land art all around the world and doesn't have one specific place he builds his art at. He has been making land art since the late 1970's in both natural and urban enviroments. Goldsworthy has made more than 70 exhibitions and projects all over the world. I really like the style of his pictures, I like the creativity he has to make all these sculptures. Also, I really like how all his pictures turn out, like the angels he uses, his pictures always turn out amazing. When I try to imitate his style, I am going to try use all different angels, and get really creative with the sculptures I use.
